Winter Ball

You are cordially invited to an evening "Somewhere in Time" Winter Ball 2019.  The date is Saturday,

February 9, 2019 from 8:00-11:00 p.m.

This is the last week that tickets will be on sale in the ASB office from January 22-25 for $13.00 with ASB and $15.00 without.

Ticket prices rise dramatically after this Friday!! 

The first 350 tickets sold include a special surprise.  All guest passes are due in no later than Wednesday, February 6th.

REMINDER! You cannot purchase dance tickets if you have fees or fines.

Special Needs Prom meeting Wednesday, January 23rd at 2:00pm in room 118.  Need community service hours and an awesome way to meet some new friends come and join us.  For more information contact Mrs. Karen Hall for more details.

 

Did You Know… On average, alcohol plays a role in the deaths of 4,358 young people under age 21 every year.  These deaths include:

  • 1,580 deaths from car crashes
  • 1,269 from murders
  • 245 from alcohol poisoning, falls, burns, and drowning
  • 492 from suicides

National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week is coming to Prosser High School. Please join us on Tuesday for Hot Cocoa in the main hall before school and during lunch!

 

Interested in Cross Country Mountain Biking? There will informational meetings on the 24th at Sharehouse at 6pm.

 

Cast and crew auditions for the spring Drama Club performances of Blast from the Past Henchman’s Revenge are coming up! Meeting for those interested in working the technical aspects of the show including designing, building, and/or crewing lights, sound, props, sets, costumes, makeup, and hair is Wednesday, January 30th at 2 PM backstage. No experience needed!!. Acting auditions are Monday, February 4th and Tuesday, February 5th from 3 PM to no later than 5:30 PM backstage. Please plan to attend both days. Scripts are available for two day checkout at lunch backstage so you can read the play before auditions. Not required but recommended. Questions, please see Ms. Starr or Mr. Estey.

 

Next Traffic Safety class starts January 30th, at 7:00am in room 305. Cost is $350 and can be paid in the ASB office. Students must be 15 years of age to start.  For more info contact Mr. Fassler or Mr. Kintner.  ONLY 6 SPOTS LEFT!!

 

SENIORS – Great opportunity for 80 seniors who aren’t quite sure of their post high school plans (or just want more options) to learn about some education and career opportunities.  Students will meet with reps from apprenticeships, college training, and more.  Trip is Wednesday, January 23, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Bus will transport students to and from event.  Pizza lunch will be provided.  Stop by the counseling department to pick up a permission slip.

Scholarship Workshop at CBC, Wednesday, February 13th- T Building 5:00-7:00 PM
Peer and writing center tutors will be on hand to review and edit scholarship essays!  Have students bring any/all scholarships they are working on to get help.

 

ATTN:  SENIORS – Are you considering attending WSU?  If yes, they are currently accepting applications into their College Assistance Migrant Program.  If you feel you meet the qualifications, stop by the counseling department and pick up and application.  Deadline to apply is Thursday, January 31.

  • Washington Association for Bilingual Education is pleased to announce and sponsor the Dr. Sonja McDaniel Scholarship Fund – Award of $1,000 to provide support for bilingual/EL education students.  Guideline available at www.wabewa.org  Deadline is Thursday, January 31, 2019
  • America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders has a scholarship for seniors interested in Ag Careers.  They will be giving more than $500,000 in scholarships.  Go to www.AmericasFarmers.com to apply.  Deadline is Wednesday, February 6.
  • The Davidson Institute for Talent Development offers high-achieving young people across the country the opportunity to be named a 2019 Davidson Fellow, an honor accompanied by a $50,000, $25,000 or $10,000 scholarship in recognition of a significant piece of work in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Music, Literature, Philosophy or Outside the Box. Applicants must submit an original piece of work that is recognized as significant by experts in the field and that has the potential to make a positive contribution to society.   • CBC Foundation Scholarship application is now available.  Deadline to apply is Thursday, February 21.
  • YVC Foundation Scholarship application is now available.  Application is due Thursday, February 28.
  • Prosser Scholarship Committee/Blue Mountain Foundation Scholarships are now open for applications. The Foundation will be awarding $215,000 to the class of 2019. Applications can be found at:  www.bluemountainfoundation.org - Grant/Scholarship - Scholarships and follow the directions and hit the blue Apply Now button.  Deadline Friday, March 1st. 
  • Kennewick Washington Horse Heaven Round-up Scholarship now available.  Deadline is Friday, March 1.
  • The George Washington Foundation Scholarship is currently taking applications for their $1050 scholarship.  Graduating seniors must attend a school in Washington State.  Deadline is Friday, March 1.
  • Washington State School Retirees’ Association Scholarship - You must have at least a 3.0 GPA and pursuing a career in the “field of education” – teacher, counselor, speech therapist, occupational therapist, or psychologist.  Apply at www.wssra.org – Deadline is Friday, March 1.
  • Washington Apple Education Foundation is offering various scholarships to graduating seniors.  Application deadline is Friday, March 1.  Apply at - www.waef.org/scholarships.
  • Kelly Foundation of Washington is sponsoring a $2,500 scholarship.  Deadline to apply is Sunday, March 10.
  • Young American Creative Patriotic Art Awards – Deadline is Friday, March 15.
  • Prosser AAU Scholarship application is now available.  Deadline to apply is Friday, April 12.
  • Benton County Farm Bureau Scholarship and Max Benitz Memorial Scholarship are currently open.  Deadline to apply is April 15, 2019.
  • Pointe Pest Control Scholarship - $750.00 – Apply at: https://pointepest.com/washington-scholarship-application/  Deadline is Monday, April 29.
  • Ike Anderson Memorial Scholarship Application is now available.  Deadline to apply is Monday, May 6.
  • United States Marine Corps has a few scholarships available to graduating seniors – Frederick C. Branch Leadership Scholarship, Pedro Del Valley Leadership Scholarship, Marine Corps Reserve, and NROTC.
